Dear Friends,

On Sunday, April 23, 2023, the Reverend Mary Ann Hill celebrated her final service as the Rector of Saint Dunstan’s Church, ending a nearly 14-year tenure. While we all will miss her, we wish her Godspeed as she follows God’s calling to Los Alamos, New Mexico. The question that seems to be on everyone’s mind is when the search committee starts working. However, like many things in life this is a process and one that builds on the step before. Below is a brief outline of the process we are about to embark on:

  1. Discernment - Before we can begin to find the next Rector of Saint Dunstan’s we must first begin to discern who/what God might be calling our community to be. This phase will be marked by surveys and listening sessions that will help us understand ourselves better and the attributes the search committee will be looking for once they start their work.

  2. Parish Profile - The culmination of the discernment phase is a Profile that is a snapshot of who we are. This document will be used by the Diocese in recruiting potential rectors and will be used by candidates to help them discern whether God might be calling them to come to Saint Dunstan’s.

  3. Search Committee - The search committee will be formed by appointment of the vestry to handle the intake of potential candidates, they will work with Canon to the Ordinary to ensure any candidate that is to be considered meets the guidelines of the Diocese, and will ultimately narrow down the field of candidates for the Vestry to consider.

The hope is that by the end of August, we will have completed the discernment phase and to be putting the finishing touches on the Parish Profile. If you have any questions about this or anything else don’t hesitate.

Warmest regards,
