Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
A few facts.
Each day in the United States more than 2.5 million grandparents are taking on the duty of raising their grandchildren. The amount of households where the grandparent is the primary caregiver doubled between 1970 and 2010. More than one fifth of these grandparents are below the federal poverty line.
But what can we do?
This is where we need your help. We believe strongly that the best way to serve someone is to ask what they need. A group of congregation members have been prayerfully discerning the next steps around what Saint Dunstan’s can do to better support both the grandparents and grandchildren. We have composed a brief survey to ask for feedback. If you know a grandparent that has stepped in to raise or help raise their grandchildren we ask you share this page with them and ask for their feedback.
